1. International holidays information
1) The information can be found frequently on www.epost.kr.
2) Please remind that some countries in Middle East region have holidays on Thursday and Friday.
2. Prohibited Contents (No compensation for damages)
1) Prohibited articles defined by UPU (Article 19 of the UPU Convention, Trade and Parcel)
- Drugs, Psychotropic Substances and Obscene or Immoral Stuffs
- Explosive or flammable substances or other dangerous materials (paint, ink, Spray, Perfume, Butane Gas etc.)
2) Any contents prohibited by destination country for import
- The prohibited import items vary according to the laws and regulations of each country.
- Food, live animals, medicinal herbs, hay/dried fish, pharmaceuticals, etc., have broad interpretations, and the decision on admissibility is made by the respective country. Therefore, even if accepted by the post office, these items may be returned or disposed of due to customs rejection in the destination country. (In such cases, the post office is not liable for compensation.)
- Articles that may cause danger during handling process or damage/contamination to other items
- Coins, bank notes, Money remittances, Legal Tender, Valuable items such as bearer negotiable instruments, traveler's checks, processed or unprocessed platinum, gold, silver, precious stones, jewelry, etc.
3. Study-abroad/Business/Shipment Documents (Estimate,Contract)
1) Indirect losses due to non-delivery are not eligible for compensation, and we recommend using EMS Premium for faster delivery.
2) The documents for Study-abroad will be delivered to Mail Room at the school.
4. electrical goods (not covered by insurance)
1) Receiving electrical goods will be restricted due to the likelihood of breakage or damage.
2) If shipment is unavoidable, please ensure thorough packaging both internally and externally.
5. If the address is a P.O. Box:
1) EMS Premium generally does not accept P.O. Box addresses (delivery confirmation may not be possible in the destination country).
- Acceptance is possible with completion and attachment of a shipping agreement form (available on the EMS Premium website).
- Exceptions apply for certain countries in the Middle East and Africa.
*EMS non-P.O. Box handling countries: China, Germany, France, UK, India, Turkey, Sweden, Malaysia, etc.
6. Food (not covered by insurance, not eligible for EMS Premium shipping)
1) Food items often face customs holds and rejections, so please be cautious.
2) Compensation for spoilage of food items is not available (not covered by insurance).
- Only postage fees will be reimbursed for delays caused by content spoilage during delivery.
- Delivery delays due to customs hold-ups are excluded from postage fee compensation.
3) Foods including liquids such as Kimchi, herbal medicines, fish sauce, and fermented soybean paste can be damaged or spoiled due to inadequate packaging during transport/delivery, and if contents are damaged and repackaging is not possible, they may be disposed of without notice to the recipient.
- Some countries like the USA notify the recipient after disposal.
- Fermented foods may be discarded by the destination country's customs due to odor resulting from temperature and pressure changes during transport. Ensure adequate cushioning and layering to prevent leakage.
- Packaging method: Use a Kimchi-specific plastic bag > fill only 70% of a can or plastic kimchi container (e.g., Lock & Lock) > final packaging in an EMS box (styrofoam boxes are not permitted).
4) Items enclosed may be discarded or contaminated during customs transport, so we recommend separately shipping important documents, books, and high-value items.
7. Customs brokerage not available:
1) When detained by customs (including documents), the recipient must personally clear customs.
- Compensation for delivery delays due to customs clearance is not available.
2) EMS Premium offers customs brokerage services; please contact 1588-5027 for inquiries.
8. Miscellaneous
1) Export confirmation (computer registration) is not possible after loading international mail onto aircraft.
2) Using packaging boxes related to food (with images of apples, pears, sweet potatoes, etc., on agricultural produce boxes) may cause suspicion as agricultural produce, potentially causing customs delays.
3) Implementation of mandatory pre-provision of customs information for international postal items (from January 1, 2021).
